| Here's an idea whose time hasn't come -- it's long overdue! The Gro-mato is a self-watering resin planter AND a tomato cage, which you can tailor to the size of your plant and which is also perfect for climbing and vining plants of any kind. Constructed to last a lifetime, this system is so easy to use and commonsensical, we're wondering why nobody thought of it sooner!
The base is the planter, which can be used independent of the wire cage if you desire. It's 15 inches in diameter and stands tall, with a generous reservoir for water at the base. (You water your plants through the slot near the base of the planter, and the water wicks up through the soil to reach your plant's roots.) Bottom-watering minimizes evaporation and means that you don't need to buy those expensive potting soils with "moisture release" features; your plant will always have adequate water, even during the hottest August days when everything else is wilting by noon!
The planter is constructed of heavy-duty, weather-resistant resin that resists cracking and breaking. It boasts a terracotta-colored finish that matches any decor.
At the top of the planter is a wide rim which forms a little shelf within the pot, and on this shelf are 3 slots into which the bottom wire cage fits. The cage is constructed of galvanized steel coated in soil-brown. Three wires dangle from the base of the cage, fitting snugly into the slots within the planter. A second wire cage can then be added on top of the first. Its dangling wires slide into 3 small hoops at the top of the first cage. Once the entire cage is in place, it is rock-solid, never shaky or lopsided. Your plants will love it!
Together the two cages measure about 2 feet high, and they taper from 15 inches at the base to about 12 at the top. Sturdy cross-wires create plenty of opportunities for branches and vines to grow up and through the latticework, and help support the heavy load of tomatoes, roses, or other veggies you can grow in Gro-mato!
Your Gro-Mato Self-Watering Tower comes with the planter, two-part steel cage, and easy instructions for assembly. (It's pretty self-explanatory, but just in case!) You just add soil and your favorite plants, and get ready to grow the best patio crops of your gardening career! |
