| Has Larkspur ever let you down? If so, Cannes Mix is the one you've been waiting for. Specially developed to mature quickly and with great disease resistance for the florist market, it is now available to home gardeners, and what a difference a good pedigree makes! This plant blooms FAST -- perfect for northern and short-season climates where spring arrives late and summer is over before traditional Larkspur is fully grown! Fully double, these long, elegant, very sturdy spikes sport some of the most interesting colors and combinations in the Larkspur family. Pink, purple, rose, lilac, and white combine on these blooms, with picotees, stripes, and other bicolors appearing frequently. A designer mix, it never seems to offer the same flowering spike twice! The flowers tower atop fresh green foliage on tall, slender plants reaching 5 to 6 feet high (in bloom) but less than a foot wide. They begin in late spring in most climates and continue for weeks into early summer, flowering very heavily so you can cut all you like for indoor arrangements and still have plenty for garden enjoyment. Give this lovely plant full sunshine and deep, enriched soil, and it will do the rest, filling your vases, bringing butterflies on the wing, and delighting your senses with cool blue tones! Direct-sow these seeds into the warm spring soil or, for quicker blooms, begin indoors a few weeks before the last anticipated frost. The seeds germinate within 2 weeks at 60 degrees F, lightly covered (or dropped into the planting holes of the Bio Dome.) After the seeds sprout, grow on in a low humidity setting with cooler temperatures. It is ready to transplant when it has 5 or 6 sets of true leaves and the soil is warm. Pkt is 25 seeds. |
