| When we grew this lovely Flowering Maple in the trial gardens last year, we were astonished both by the earliness of the blooms and their vivid color! When the young plants were barely 6 inches tall, they were hung with full-sized blooms that stood out from across the garden! Brilliant warm shades of red, coral, apricot, peach, and golden grace this charming dwarf plant from spring all the way till frost. You just can't find an easier, more beautiful source of color . . . indoors or out! The flowers are 3 inches across and have a crepe-paper feel, somewhat like Hibiscus. The colors are watercolor-like -- intense but not gaudy. You won't believe how many you get on each plant, since this Flowering Maple reaches only 14 to 18 inches tall and 12 to 14 inches wide! Flowering Maple is also called Parlor Maple because it makes a lovely houseplant, and this dwarf variety is especially suitable for containers. Very free-blooming and easy to care for, it asks for only a sunny window and a periodic feed -- AlgoFlash is a fine bloom-builder. Crepe de Chine is superb for the garden, too. Low enough to edge a pathway or dazzle in the front of the border, it's a nice accent plant for the patio as well. Tolerant of partial shade where summers are long and hot, it grows quickly and lushly. You will love this garden standout! The packet contains 10 seeds. |
