| Passersby will do a double take at the bright red "lips" of this striking bicolor Intermediate Snapdragon! The pure white blooms arise on long, strong stems, each outlined in red like a mouth. Lipstick Silver is a very versatile Snap, because its look is both old-fashioned and modern. The 18-inch plants are bushy but restrained, keeping a neat shape in the garden despite great flower power. And the blooms are elegant enough for formal plantings, yet have the cheery, vertical form associated with cottage gardens. One of the most attention-getting Snapdragons we know, Lipstick Silver will delight you with its wonderfully-scented blooms in the garden, container, or vase! And the more flowers you cut, the more you get! If you have never "snapped" a Snapdragon, here is how to do it: You'll notice that the blooms form two separate cupped clusters that meet in the middle, like jaws. Gently squeeze the sides of the jaws, and the two clusters will separate, just like a mouth opening. The space is just the right size for a child's finger to poke into the dragon's mouth. Release the bloom and the jaws "snap" closed! Seeds may be direct-sown or started indoors for earlier blooms. Snaps are cool-season annuals that bloom in spring and fall in warm areas, summer in colder climates. In very warm locations they may winter over if mulched. They do best in full sun to light shade. Pkt is 25 seeds. |
