| Only once in a blue moon will you find a flower like this! To get all this color, unusual form, and compact habit into one package is just amazing! This Aster is just 2 feet tall, but sports massive disks of dark and light blue all summer, adding eye-catching color to the sunny garden and electrifying your vases! The large pompons are 2 to 3 inches wide and simply crammed with petals. A large central disk radiates deep, cool color, surrounded by a circle of short, closely-set light purple petals just for fun. And best of all, these blooms arise all over the plant, for weeks on end -- as floriferous as a daisy, as spectacular as a sunflower! The rich purple shades complement just about any garden design, but I think they're particularly effective with deep reds (Zinnia Big Red, Celosia Fresh Look Red, spring to mind) and bold yellows such as Marigold Park's Whopper Yellow, Gazania Orange Cream, and Cosmos Cosmic Yellow. Of course, you may find it impossible to resist dotting them among dwarf Sunflowers -- try fuzzy Double Dandy or sunny Pacino. This China Aster is an annual, irresistible to butterflies (and humans!). It is easy and fast to grow in the sunny garden, and does best in moist, well-drained soil. Lilliput Blue Moon is wilt-tolerant, but all Asters do better if grown in different soil each year, so for subsequent plantings, change the location a bit. Deadhead flowers to extend the bloom season even longer and keep the flowers coming in great profusion! Pkt is 100 seeds. |
