| Who would have thought that plain old Sedge could ever look this good? The truth, of course, is that this ornamental grass is far from plain. It delights with lush, glossy foliage that cascades down all sides of the plant and is topped by handsome brown catkins in late spring. The easiest hedge, edging, border, and container choice you will ever make, this variety from seed is quick to bloom and always vigorous. The catkins arise the second year from seed, but even in its first year, the foliage is lush and glossy, reaching 3 to 4 feet high and spreading 5 feet wide. No grass is easier for creating a manageable but very full hedge. Best in full sun in all but the hottest part of its hardiness range, it becomes quite heat- and drought-tolerant once mature, and puts up with a wide range of soils. Don't buy expensive ornamental grasses in nursery pots -- grow your own for just pennies, and landscape your entire property! Pkt is 20 seeds. |
