| Super-compact but sporting large, very colorful and abundant blooms, this Bellflower is small enough for containers, yet boasts enough big lavender-blue flowers to fill a vase. One of the brightest and most floriferous Bellflowers, it is great for growing indoors or out. The flowers are bell-shaped, but instead of dangling as so many Bellflowers do, they face up and out, revealing their richly colored throats. 2 to 2 1/2 inches wide, they are excellent for cutting, and fill out flowerpots beautifully. This dwarf plant reaches just 16 to 20 inches high when in bloom, and sports 6 to 8 flowering branches. Pinch it several times as it grows to encourage more side-shoots, and it will delight you with an enormous bouquet of color! 'Takion Blue' requires a vernalization period to flower, so sow the seeds in late summer or early fall, and it will bloom the following spring (and into summer). A hardy perennial, it thrives in zones 3-8, and everywhere as a houseplant. Zones 3-8. Pkt is 10 seeds. |
