| Flower lovers, rejoice! Whether you like cutflowers for the vase or big mounds of color for the sunny garden, White Knight has come to your rescue! Most Shasta Daisies are extremely floriferous, but White Knight is downright heroic when it comes to bloom power. You'll get MASSES of huge 4- to 5-inch daisies over a season so long it seems impossible. Best of all, you don't have to devote a lot of garden space to these plants -- they're compact and simply loaded with bloom! The show begins in late spring, when the broad, dense little plants begin bursting into bud and bloom. The heaviest bloomtime is in the hot summer months, but even when fall begins to nip the air, the flowers continue. Only frost ends their show! If you live in a long-summer area, you could easily see blooms from May through October! And in short-summer climates, you'll appreciate just how heavy the bloom is during those precious months of warm weather! These plants reach about 22 inches high and 20 inches wide, with short, very strong stems. They look terrific in containers as well as the sunny annual bed and border. Untroubled by pests and diseases, all they ask is plenty of sunshine and water, plus a good feed periodically during the growth and bloom seasons. Combine them in garden or vase with Dahlias, Celosias, Zinnias, Salvias, and just about any other flowering annual or perennial! These big white daisies combine beautifully, dressing down Roses and cheering up Marigolds. They make nice combination containers with foliage plants from Dichondra to Coleus, too! A delightfully easy plant to grow from seed, Shasta Daisy can be direct-sown outdoors anytime from early spring up till 2 months before first frost (for blooms the following year), or may be begun indoors in late winter for even earlier flowers. Germination takes 10 to 14 days, and the seed should be uncovered. The plants can tolerate a bit of shade, particularly in the southern portion of their hardiness range. Space them about 15 inches apart and prepare to enjoy one of the longest and most satisfying seasons of bloom possible from any plant! Zones 5-9. Pkt is 25 seeds. |
