| If you did a double take at this Primrose, you're not alone! Called the Orchid Primrose, it is a species completely different than the low-growing, mounded nosegay blooms we're all accustomed to. This hardy perennial grows a full 2 feet tall, sporting long, sturdy 3- to 4-inch bloomspikes absolutely jammed with dark red buds. The buds open to bell-shaped, pendulous blooms of soft pink. And because the blooms open from the bottom up, each spike offers fresh flowers for many days, making them devastating in cut arrangements as well as in the garden! Best in partial shade and moist, well-drained soil well enriched with organic matter, Orchid Primrose is hardy in zones 5-7 and may be grown as a winter-spring annual in zones 7-10. Pkt is 25 seeds. |
