| Meet the Amaranthus that is taking American gardens by storm! An utterly unique plant habit and an unbelievably long season of bloom are delightful additions to the sunny border or accent planting . . . and did you notice that one of the colors is vivid lime-green? These two Amaranthus will stop visitors in their tracks in any setting -- and with their sun-loving nature, the design possibilities are nearly endless. Who can resist such an opportunity? This mix contains equal amounts of the red- and chartreuse-flowered Towers. Both plants range from 3 1/2 feet tall (at their central "tower") to about 27 inches at the secondary flowerspikes. Each bloom column measures 16 to 20 inches long and several inches thick, every iota of space jammed with rich color. The stems are fascinating in fresh arrangements, and may be dried for winter-long color as Everlastings. Towers creates an instant focal point for the annual bed or border, and is at home among small shrubs and foliage plants as well. It is a fine companion to white blooms such as lacy-leaved Cosmos Sonata, as well as to brightly-colored annuals and perennials of all hues. Towers is a sun-loving annual that grows readily in moist, well-drained soil. Water well during long dry spells in summer to keep the flowers coming. The foliage is striking, too -- if you can take your eyes off the blooms long enough to see it! The green leaves are boldly splashed with purple right down to the ground. Pkt is 50 seeds. |
