| 100 days. Elephant Garlic is 6 times the size of traditional varieties, with a slightly milder flavor but the same fine texture and moist consistency. They'll deliver enormous yields from just a few cloves. In all but the most northern climates, plant garlic in fall by dividing the bulb into cloves and setting them, pointed side up, 1 inch deep and about 12 inches apart in rows 1 1/2 feet apart. Before planting, work the soil well to ensure that it is loose and well-drained; sandy soil is ideal. Feed at planting time and again when the stalks are about 6 inches tall.
The stalks will reach about 12 to 18 inches high, topped by a large flower. When the stalks become limp and lose their color, dig up the bulbs and let them cure in the sun for a few days before bringing indoors. In the far north, plant in spring, following the same steps. Pack of 3 cloves. |
