| The only complaint I have about this plant is that the cheery yellow-and-orange blooms remind me of my sweet tooth! They really do resemble candy corn, and they arise very, very heavily on this compact little plant. If you love Snaps and want some autumn decoration that will bring a smile to the face of all who see it, 'Candy Corn' is the Snap for you! The flowers are about an inch across, arising on very sturdy 7- to 8-inch stalks. At 16 to 18 inches high, 'Candy Corn' is considered an Intermediate Snap -- the perfect size for bedding and large containers! And despite its "fall" colors, it also makes a great spring crop, complementing the Daffodils beautifully! 'Candy Corn' blooms earlier than other Intermediate Snaps and is very well-branched, giving you a few extra flowering stems on every plant. Easy to grow, early to bloom, and wonderfully colored -- what more could we ask? --Oh, fragrance, of course! It also sports a subtle but distinctive cinnamon-spice aroma! If you have never "snapped" a Snapdragon, here is how to do it: You'll notice that the blooms form two separate cupped clusters that meet in the middle, like jaws. Gently squeeze the sides of the jaws, and the two clusters will separate, just like a mouth opening. The space is just the right size for a child's finger to poke into the dragon's mouth. Release the bloom and the jaws "snap" closed! Seeds may be direct-sown or started indoors for earlier blooms. Snaps are cool-season annuals that bloom in spring and fall in warm areas, summer in colder climates. In very warm locations they may winter over if mulched. They do best in full sun to light shade. Pkt is 100 seeds. |
