| Syn. Dendranthema. Our photo simply doesn't do justice to the beauty of these blooms! Picture the pink a bit softer, the white halo around the center glowing, and the flowers a mix of single and semi-double types. Then you'll have some idea of the majesty of 'Cambodian Queen,' the exciting mid-sized Mum destined to cover your autumn border in blooms. A sun-loving perennial that blooms through fall until stopped by cold weather, 'Cambodian Queen' sets flowers that reach 3 and even 3½ inches wide. They appear by the dozen ? or should it be the hundred?! ? on plants 2 to 3 feet tall and up to 2 feet wide, so numerous that they hide the foliage! Just made for cutting, they hold up well in the vase, and are a showstopping spectacle in the fall garden or container. Unlike the short-lived Mums you may have grown, this is a long-lived perennial, very vigorous and prepared to flower year after year. A sport of the famous Mum 'Sheffield', 'Cambodian Queen' earns its royal title with its interesting haloed effect, the ability to produce some semi-double as well as single flowers, and the sheer size and number of its blooms! For best flowering, give the plant a pinch or two in midsummer, which will encourage side branches to form. It thrives in full sun and well-drained, enriched soil, so don't spare the compost on this one! You will be richly rewarded for seasons to come! Zones 3-7. |
