 Gooseberry Red George™
Heavy-Bearing and Easy to Grow!
Hardy to -40 degrees F!
Expand beyond the usual strawberries and raspberries this year with heavy-bearing, easy-to-grow, delicious Gooseberry Red George™! This self-fertile shrub is quick to mature and very heavy-yielding, offering 4 to 5 pounds of delicious fruit every year!

Red George™ sets rounded, very glossy dark red to nearly black fruit resembling cherries but with the distinctively delectable gooseberry flavor. Originating in the Ukraine, this variety is hardy to -40 degrees F and self-fertile, so you need plant only one for big, abundant crops. And if you live in a humid or rainy climate where some fruits mildew during the summer, rest assured -- Red George™ is resistant to powdery mildew!

The fruit arises in midsummer on shrubs that reach 2 to 3 feet high and wide. Suitable even for crowded garden conditions, they grow quickly in full sun, and are a good choice for the far west and northwest, in addition to other parts of the country. Very easy and disease-resistant, Red George™ may become your favorite fruiting plant! Zones 3-8; Sunset Western Zones A1-A3, 1-6, 16-17. Sunset Northeastern Zones 34-43.
