| At last, a Coleus from seed that thrives in bright sunshine as well as shade! Versa lives up to its name with go-anywhere beauty that changes colors as the weather warms up. Easy and quick to grow from our pelleted seed (no magnifying glass necessary!), this compact and very lush plant also blooms late, so it's carefree while other Coleus are demanding their "trim." What more could we ask?
'Burgundy to Green' does just what its name promises, beginning spring with dark maroon leaves speckled with lime green. As the summer heat arrives, the speckles increase and begin to merge, eventually turning most of the leaf bright green. What fun ?- a patio or garden plant that looks a little different every week!
This plant reaches about 30 to 32 inches high and spreads up to 24 inches wide. As with all Coleus, it makes a splendid houseplant as well as an outdoor choice, and is adaptable to garden or container. What a great choice for a combination planting, its burgundy leaves adding much-needed spring color to the display, while its green summer tones yield the spotlight to the colorful blooms of summer-flowering annuals!
'Burgundy to Green' will eventually flower, but the bloomstalks can be pinched off at once to avoid detracting from the beauty of the foliage. (They make good filler in large bouquets.) Expect it to continue its vigorous, healthy growth all summer and until the first hard frost of fall -- or year-round indoors, where you can set it in a sunny window or low-light setting. All this Coleus asks is well-drained soil; it dislikes too much fertilizer, making it even easier to keep up with!
'Burgundy to Green' is only one of the splendid Versa colors. Try super-petite 'Green Halo,' velvety 'Crimson Gold,' golden-green 'Lime,' burgundy-streaked 'Rose to Lime,' and cherry-red 'Watermelon' for further inspiration ? or yield to the inevitable and get the mix of all 6! They are ready just 11 weeks from sowing, and you'll start seeing their bright, unusual color combinations from the moment the tiny leaves open! Pkt is 15 pelleted seeds. |
