| Winner of the 2010 Cool Season Bedding Plant Award from All-America Selections, Endurio™ has richly deserved its accolades! Not only is this series frost-tolerant, it actually withstands a light snow! The 1-inch blooms are gorgeous and very closely-set, giving you more flowers than ever before on well-branched, semi-trailing plants. Adaptable to any setting from a hanging basket (where it cascades beautifully) to edging the driveway (where it masses its blooms into a dense, colorful mound), Endurio™ is the Viola you've been waiting for.
Just 4 to 6 inches high (when not in bloom) and wide, this Horned Violet (also called a Tufted Pansy, or, in a pinch, Johnny Jump-Up!) is built for action. In technical terms, it's less day-length sensitive than other Violas, which means it will grow and bloom equally well in the short fall days of the north and the longer days of the south. In practical terms, this means it will keep on going long after other Violas have chalked up their earnings for the season and vanished. And it's also simply more garden-tough, ready to grow and bloom even under less-than-ideal conditions. It blooms all winter in the south, and in both fall and spring farther north. You can't beat it!
These blooms are breathtaking, and there is also a yellow and a red gold in the series that will knock you sideways. Just about an inch wide, these blooms pack a ton of impact into a tiny space . . . and when the plant is in full bloom, they are magnificent. Blooms don't have to be huge to be noticeable and beautiful, especially when they're about the only annual left blooming in the November garden!
Endurio™ is worth designing a large color bowl or accent planting around, so consider pairing it with winter-hardy ornamental cabbage, and other late-flowering annuals. It thrives in sun or partial shade and in any good, well-drained soil or potting mix. You will love Endurio™ so much that even though it's made for fall and winter, we predict you'll be growing it next spring, too! Pkt is 25 seeds. |
