A Very Rare French Alpine Lettuce!
Slow to bolt and very tolerant of cold, it is a mid- to late-season variety.
50 days. This classic variety from Grenoble, France, is one of the most highly-sought lettuces, and we are honored to make it available in Certified Organic form this season. Bolt-resistant and very cold-tolerant, it is an excellent crop for either spring or fall, and because you can harvest the leaves individually, it is a season-long delight.

These loosely-held, semi-open heads are beautifully whorled, with crisp, textured dark green leaves broadly edged in deep red. 'Rouge Grenobloise' is a member of the Batavian (Iceberg) family, but its flavor bears little resemblance to the watery, ultra-mild bite of supermarket icebergs. It is rich and buttery, with a satisfying aftertaste and good texture. This is the lettuce you will want to use for your best salads!

This French Alpine lettuce is a cut-and-come-again variety, so you can harvest the leaves individually as the season progresses, and new ones will arise to replace them. Or you can harvest the entire head, which matures in mid- to late season. Versatile and very easy!

No matter where you live, you can be successful growing this lettuce, thanks to its native vigor and adaptability. You will find our organic seed (certified by Clemson University DPI according to NOP standards) ready to germinate and easy to grow. Enjoy this classic French treasure! Packet is 1/32-ounce.
