| An exciting new look for Canna, 'Wyoming Dwarf' offers huge, buttery blooms of golden-orange on plants so compact you can grow them in containers! The combination of bronzy-burgundy foliage, large showy blooms, and long flowering time is unbeatable, and you'll want this dwarf Canna for every sunny spot in the garden! 'Wyoming Dwarf' unfurls its wide, paddle-shaped leaves in mid-spring, each tinted a deep bronze color with burgundy veins and edging. As soon as the summer weather arrives, so do big clusters of blooms on tall, thick stems in the center of the plant. Unfurling like Hibiscus flowers, these flooms are 4 to 5 inches wide, with a dark orange center and beautiful form. Expect them to keep coming all summer and right into autumn! 'Wyoming Dwarf' begins flowering the first year. The perfect poolside or patio accent, it also makes a nice low hedge, middle-of-the-border color break, and specimen in a small-space garden or planting. It's just 30 inches tall and about 18 to 24 inches wide, with a compact habit and full-size blooms! Utterly carefree, it attracts hummingbirds and compliments all season long! If you're new to Canna growing, you're in for a treat. Hardy only in zones 7-10, they are easily grown everywhere else in containers -- just bring them in before the first hard frost, cut back the foliage, and set them out again in late spring or early summer for another season of glorious color! They bloom the very first year you get them in the ground and for many, many seasons thereafter, reveling in the heat and humidity that melts out so many other plants. Ideal in a large planting, hedge, or accent, they look fine at poolside, on the patio, or marching along the side of the garden path. Though they prefer loose, rich soil, they also fare happily in heavy clay or dry soils if given plenty of water during dry spells. Space plants about 18 inches apart. Zones 7-11. |
