A "Curlicue" Bouquet for Home or Garden!
This evergreen perennial makes a fine houseplant!
As if it had just received a shock, this plant is a twisty, spiraling, wide-open mass of evergreen stems up to a foot and a half long! The undulating leaves remind me of ribbons blowing in the wind, and they look just terrific when cut for fresh or dried arrangements . . . or right on the plant, indoors or out! Easy to grow and irresistibly whimsical, Corkscrew Rush adds a lot of texture and year-round color to any setting. Perfect as a houseplant, this perennial reaches 18 inches high and 24 inches wide in any container exposed to bright light and moist, even damp soil. The tendrils begin curling from a young age, and keep their twisty look year-round! Be sure to dry some for use all winter in centerpieces and other arrangements -- and lighten up the look of the sunny garden with a row of Corkscrew Rushes wiggling out from behind low-growing perennials and annuals! Corkscrew Rush is particularly useful in wet, boggy soils where few other plants are happy. And if you live north of its zone 6-9 hardiness range, grow it anyway as an annual! It's quick, easy, and a one-of-a-kind beauty! Shown here with our comical Little Girl planter, Corkscrew Rush can be dressed up or down depending on your decor and mood. It makes a fine background plant in a mixed container, but also looks terrific on its own. No matter where you find to place it, this "wild hair" plant will be an attention-grabber! Sow the seed uncovered anytime year-round indoors, or for outdoor use in late winter. Young plants get off to a slow start, then take off, particularly with a little food and plenty of moisture. You may see small, unexciting flowers arise in summer, especially if the plant is grown outdoors. Zones 6-9. Pkt is 25 seeds.
