Garlic 'Early Italian Purple'
Allium sativum 'Early Italian Purple'
Garlic 'Early Italian Purple': A softneck garlic with 5 to 10 large cloves.
Its sweet, mild flavor makes this a classic favorite!

Larger Cloves for an Extra Bite in Every Bulb!
Excellent heat tolerance!

90 days. One of the very best Garlics for hot climates, 'Early Italian Purple' sets large cloves on bulbs that store for up to 10 months. The flavor is sweet and mild, with an extra bite in every bulb for garlic lovers!

'Early Italian Purple' is an artichoke-type garlic, a softneck with good wrapper coverage and 5 to 10 extra-large cloves per bulb. It's easy to grow and cure, giving you a big crop of delectable garlic to last through winter and beyond!

To grow this Garlic, work some humus or other organics into rich, loose soil. Set the bulbs about 6 inches apart in rows 1 foot or more apart. Push the bulbs 2 inches below the soil line, with the plump, rounded side down (like a Tulip bulb). A heavy layer of mulch is recommended, as well as regular feedings with a balanced fertilizer such as 10-10-10. When the leaves have turned brown, the crop is ready to harvest. Pull up the bulb and, with the leaves still attached, let it dry in the sun for a few hours. Then spread it out in a dry, well-ventilated place until the leaves are papery (typically 2 to 3 weeks). Unless you are saving the tops to braid them, cut them off after the curing period and store the bulbs in a cool, dry, well-ventilated location. Set of 10.
