Bearded Iris 'High Profile'
Iris x germanica 'High Profile'
Bearded Iris 'High Profile': Bicolor blooms with mid-blue standards, dark violet-blue falls, and brick-red beards on 37-inch stems.
The red beards offer great contrast to the azure and violet-blue!

Two-Tone Blue on Tall, Vigorous Plants!
Introduced in 2000, it has quickly become a favorite.

No Iris displays the beauty and range of classic blue and purple tones the way this stunning Bearded variety does. Its standards are a pure azure-blue (very prized and hard to find in the garden!), its falls a deep violet-blue. And to set off both colors more brilliantly, the beards are a terracotta red! Borne on tall, well-budded stems, this early to midseason bloomer is one of the finest varieties available for American gardens.

'High Profile' was introduced by Schreiner in 2000 and immediately became a popular favorite. We gardeners can never get too much blue, and the generosity of this cultivar in offering both the classic azure and dramatic midnight purple is irresistible! The blooms arise on stems 37 inches high and very vigorous.

The 37-inch stems are quite longlasting in the sunny garden, but you may find yourself cutting them to enjoy their distinctive look at even closer range! Luckily, they will not only bloom over a generous season in early summer, but will be back in greater number next year, and can even be divided after 3 to 5 years for even more color accents in the garden.

Bearded Iris grows easily in sunny, well-drained soil of almost any type. Once established, it is quite tolerant of drought, and is impervious to most pests and diseases. Left alone, it will multiply, and should be divided (a simple process!) every 5 years or so to keep the flowering at its peak. Ideal in borders, beds, as accents among perennials and shrubs, and as mass plantings in the meadow or woodland landscape. Fine for containers of all types, too!

Space plants 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 feet apart (to give them room to spread). Zones 3-8.
