For years we have admired 'Hush Little Baby' in the growing fields, its bold rosy-pink blooms standing out among other pinks the way sunlight diminishes candlelight, its perfectly-formed petals making other Daylilies look like rough sketches. In late afternoon, when many Hemerocallis slump a bit under the pressure of too much heat, humidity, and sun, 'Hush Little Baby' is as neatly ruffled and wavy as if it had just opened for the day. I consider it the finest pink ever grown, and I am delighted we finally have enough stock to offer it to you! Most of these blooms are 5 inches across, although you'll occasionally get a 6-inch whopper (just for bragging rights!). The petals are thick, waxy, and durable, keeping the blooms fresh despite any hardships the weather throws your way. The petals open wide, revealing their utter symmetry and perfect form -- and adding to the color impact of a fully-blooming plant! Borne 20 to 25 per stem, they crowd one another for position on plants 22 inches tall and 24 inches wide. 'Hush Little Baby' is a connoisseur's Daylily, the showpiece you'll want to build a garden niche around or feature in a mass planting. It blooms from mid- to late summer in the sun-soaked garden, tolerant of heat, humidity, poor soil, and plain old neglect. Space the plants about 2 feet apart. Zones 4-9.
