The first time you see 'Moses' Fire' bloom up close, you may just have to go get your measuring stick. The flowers are 6 inches wide, after all, and so packed with petals that they mound a few inches "deep" as well! The color is a velvety deep red with the faintest gold edging, as if to call attention to all those ruffled petals in the center. They are simply breathtaking, and you won't be able to get enough of them during their two long seasons of bloom! The first show is in early to midsummer, and is the more floriferous of the two. Expect fresh blooms nearly every day from these hardworking 22-inch-tall, 18- to 24-inch-wide plants! After this first season, the plant rests through the hottest weeks of the year, then returns with a respectable encore toward summer's end. Fantastic! Like all Daylilies, 'Moses' Fire' is ridiculously easy to grow, tolerating the worst garden stresses and weather variations without dropping a petal. It puts up with heat, humidity, and drought (though its heaviest flowering will always be in moist, enriched soil), and once established in your garden, even thrives despite poor soil. You just can't find a lower-maintenance plant -- all it asks is to be divided every few years, so that you can double or triple your holdings of this beautiful plant.
