One of the most dramatic Daylilies we have ever grown, 'Night Embers' is a sizzling combination of deep reddish-burgundy and glowing gold on large, double-flowered blooms. Superb as a dark accent dotted among your yellow and orange Daylilies, it is also stunning in a large planting, and even works well in containers. And as one of Nature's easiest perennials to grow, it is a must-have for every sunny garden! These breathtaking blooms reach 5 inches wide, with twice the petals of traditional Daylilies, rich color, and even ruffling along the petal edges. The base color is a smoky burgundy-red, with black highlights and veining. This makes the bright yellow edge -- very thin -- stand out even more brilliantly! The bloom really does resemble the dying embers of a fire, and is attention-getting in any setting. The blooms begin in early summer and repeat reliably all season, with brief rests between waves of flowers. They arise on plants about 30 inches tall and between 2 and 3 feet wide (spreading over time). In mild climates, 'Night Embers' is evergreen; farther north, it will go dormant in winter and reappear in spring, vigorous and ready to bloom again.
