Agastache Red Fortune™ PP#11,816
Agastache mexicana Red Fortune™ PP#11,816
Agastache Red Fortune™ PP#11,816: Abundant tubular blooms of red, rose, pink, and lilac tones above blue-green foliage on upright, compact plants 2 to 3 feet tall, 2 feet wide.
That licorice-scented foliage is heaven on a hot summer day!

Long-Blooming and Easy, with Deliciously Fragrant Foliage
One of the quickest and easiest perennials to grow, it rewards you with beauty and fragrance for many months each year.

Plant Patent #11,816. What's not to love about this exciting new Giant Mexican Hyssop? The blooms are a play of 4 bright colors, abundant, beautiful, and irresistible to butterflies and hummingbirds. The foliage is deep blue-green and so fragrant you'll imagine yourself in an old-fashioned candy store, inhaling the heady musk of black licorice. Add to these merits Red Fortune™'s long bloomtime, ease of cultivation, and resistance to everything from drought to deer, and you have a never-fail, always-beautiful, reliable perennial for any sunny spot.

The blooms cluster tightly along tall, slender black stems, tubular and very bright in a medley of pink, red, rose, and even lilac shades. They begin in early summer and refuse to quit until nipped back by frost. A beacon for butterflies and hummers, they are bright and eye-catching in any setting, but look especially beautiful in a large planting. Set them beneath a hummingbird feeder and watch the hummers stake their territory!

The foliage is every bit as attractive as the blooms, rather thick (something like a Sedum), long, slender, and colored a deep blue-green. Touch it and it releases the scent of licorice, so plant it where you will brush past it frequently.

Red Fortune™ is simply one of the quickest and easiest perennials to grow, tolerating poor soils (especially dry ones; it favors dry conditions) and even drought once its root system is established in your garden. Deer leave it alone, so you can fearlessly plant it in open meadow settings and at the edge of woods. Give it plenty of sunshine and good soil drainage, and it will delight you for many seasons, reaching 2 to 3 feet tall (in bloom) and about 2 feet wide. No garden should be without this multi-season treasure! Zones 7-11.
