Super-Floriferous, Super-Dwarf, it can only be a Princess Lily®!
Grow them in containers in the north!
THE container plant of the season (and probably of many seasons to come, if the excitement around here is anything to go on!), miniature Alstroemeria is a must, must, MUST have for every gardener challenged by space constraints, fond of cut flowers, and too busy to nurse along fussy plants. A fraction of the size of their full-sized cousins, the Princess Lilies® fit neatly into containers and then cover themselves with big blooms from early summer all the way into autumn! There's never been anything like it in the Peruvian Lily family! 'Princess Isabella' is a glowing bloom, its golden-yellow petals deliciously licked with orange flames. Each flower measuring 2 to 2 1/2 inches wide, they cluster tightly ALL OVER this compact plant. It's hard to believe, but 'Princess Isabella' is just 10 to 14 inches high and slightly wider, yet it sets dozens of blooms at once, and keeps the show going for 4 months or more in most climates! The Princess Lilies® are already a sensation in Europe, where they were developed. In addition to Isabella, you must try tricolored 'Princess Paola,' handsome burgundy 'Princess Oxana,' and queen bee of them all, variegated white and yellow 'Princess Fabiana.' We'd love to tell you which is our favorite, but no two people here at Park can agree on that, and everyone feels very strongly about his or her own choice! Let's just say (diplomatically) that they ALL grow readily, appear to be equally floriferous and compact in stature, and have their own beauty. We don't need to mention that growing Alstroemeria in a container brings the beauty of this warm-climate perennial to northern gardens at last. Grow the Princess Lilies® as annuals or bring the pots into a frost-free location such as a glasshouse for winter. Plants this magnificent deserve a little special treatment if it means they can flower even in the shorter summers of the north! And within their hardiness range, of course they make lovely garden perennials as well, especially when used in groups as a foreground planting in the border, foundation, along the baking-hot driveway, and more. They appreciate a bit of afternoon shade in hotter climates, but are very tolerant of heat and humidity. Enjoy this thrilling newcomer, and do please place your order early, to avoid disappointment. This first season the Princesses will be flying off the shelves especially quickly! Zones 7b-10.
