One of the most beautifully patterned Daylilies of all, 'Candy Lipstick' is a two-tone selection that flowers very heavily in midsummer, adapts to climates from north to south, and combines beautifully with neighboring colors and forms. A splendid choice for the sunny border, edging, mass planting, or containers, 'Candy Lipstick' adds bold color to any setting. The lower petals on these wide-open, red-stemmed blooms are pale pink, while the upper set are a much brighter shade of rose with hints of purple and a creamy stripe down the center of each petal. Light ruffling and a soft yellow-green throat complete the display, which lasts for many weeks at the height of Daylily season. Heavy-budded and very vigorous, these plants transform the garden with color so bright and vivid, it catches the eye from down the street! 'Candy Lipstick' reaches about 2 feet tall and 20 inches wide. The plant is semi-evergreen, remaining through winter in warmer climates and going dormant in winter farther north. It combines nicely with blue-flowered sun-lovers in the border, as well as other Daylilies and just about any flowering shrub. Of course, it also makes a fine choice for a large planting, its many blooms filling the garden with all shades of pink and rose! Daylilies are one of the easiest perennials to grow, very low maintenance and willing to put up with extreme conditions from heat and humidity to drought and cold. They tolerate less-than-perfect soil, and ask only to be divided every few years to maintain their flowering vigor and multiply their beauty into new plants!
