Hydrangea 'Pia'
Hydrangea macrophylla 'Pia'
Hydrangea 'Pia': Shrub 2 feet tall and wide with 4- to 5-inch flowerheads of rosy-pink with purple tints.
Just 2 feet high and wide, it's perfect for containers, walkway plantings, the small patio, and more!

So Compact and Yet So Colorful!
Keeps its rosy-pink bloom color no matter what kind of soil it's in!

Hydrangea macrophylla 'Pia' sports a very dwarf, compact habit only 2 feet tall and wide. And proving that good things do come in small packages, 'Pia' produces truly outstanding flowers that maintain their color regardless of soil pH. The 4- to 5-inch flowerheads are a rich rose-pink, occasionally flushed with purple, even in acid soils.

This is one of the most talked about new Hydrangeas in recent years. The blooms appear profusely in early summer and continue all season, their generous size looking really enormous on such a small shrub! Cut them for fresh arrangements, dry them as Everlastings, or let them remain on the plant to age elegantly to a papery consistency! You just can't go wrong with 'Pia'!

Most Hydrangeas change flower color depending on the acidity of the soil. Acid soils turn them blue, while alkaline turn them pink. 'Pia' is different -- even if you give it a highly acidic soil (the kind that Rhododendrons, Camellias, and Azaleas love), it will keep its rosy-pink color, with only the occasional lavender flush! Very unusual -- and convenient for those of us who get blue Hydrangeas if we don't amend our acid soils heavily!

Hydrangeas are among the showiest of summer- and autumn-flowering woody plants. Happiest in at least half shade, they grow well under trees or on the north side of a building. Plant singly as focal points, or mass together for stunning borders. Space shrubs about 2 to 2½ feet apart. Zones 6-9.
