Rosy Summersweet
Clethra alnifolia Rosea
Rosy Summersweet: 4 to 6 feet tall and wide, with long, dark green foliage and lengthy spikes studded with reddish buds. The buds open to frilly rosy-pink blooms, somewhat like Bottlebrush.
The ultimate butterfly plant!

Fragrant Late-Summer Blooms!
Unusual rosy-pink flower spikes!

Honey-scented blooms on a carefree, ultra-hardy shrub! You'll love Rosea, a very compact, floriferous, handsome Summersweet. Instead of the usual rangy bush with white or cream plumes, Rosea stays neat and tidy, with rosy-pink spikes that simply glow in the late-summer sun. The foliage is handsome, too--dark green, large, and very dense, filling out the shrub even when not in bloom. Summersweet is a magnet for butterflies, and blooms just as the summer annuals are fading, prolonging the color (and winged visitors) in your garden a few more weeks!

But the show isn't over with fall. The glossy leaves turn rich shades of orange and yellow, for a magnificent display in the border, as a low hedge, or as an accent planting. And Rosea is easy to grow in just about any soil, including damp ones. Pest-free and widely adapted, it thrives in sun or shade. Cannot ship to CA.
