Sweet Scented Blooms for 3 Seasons!
Blooms most heavily in late spring, then intermittently all summer and up till frost!
Their scent may remind you of Lilacs, but these blooms are far, FAR longer-lasting! This fine little dwarf shrub, almost undiscovered in American gardens, is a profuse bloomer, perfuming the sunny garden most heavily in late spring, but then intermittently all summer and into fall as well! Compact enough to put into a container, this shrub is a powerhouse of fragrance and color! As soon as the warm weather arrives in spring, these 1-inch trumpet-shaped blooms begin popping up all over the shrub, jostling for position so profusely you may have trouble locating the foliage! Expect them to keep coming for a full 5 to 6 weeks, filling the late spring and early summer air with sweet scent. Then Leptodermis continues to bloom on new wood all summer and fall, right up to first frost. Magnificent! The shrub itself is petite, just 18 to 24 inches high and 2 to 2½ feet wide -- the perfect size for edging a walkway or driveway, or gracing the front of the sunny perennial or shrub border! Of course, the size is ideal for containers, too, and if you live outside of this shrub's zone 5-7 hardiness range, you should definitely grow it indoors and enjoy year-round blooms! Impervious to pests and very tolerant of poor soil and even drought (once established in your garden), this shrub looks dainty but acts quite tough! You will find it trouble-free and long-lived. Be among the very first to capture the sweet scent and long, LONG bloomtime of this powerhouse for your landscape! Zones 5-7.
