Clematis 'Ruutel'
Clematis 'Ruutel'
Clematis 'Ruutel': Single 6- to 7-inch blooms of bright red on vine 5 to 6 feet high, 2 feet wide.
The biggest red blooms I've ever seen on a Clematis!

Blooms Continuously for 4 Months!
Most Clematis bloom in waves, but not 'Ruutel'!

Not only are these flowers utterly showstopping with their rich red color and huge size, but they arise CONTINUOUSLY all summer long on super-vigorous little vines! Most Clematis rest between bloom cycles, but not 'Ruutel'!

These flowers are magnificent, with a starry shape from long, elegant petals. Measuring 6 to 7 inches wide, they're far and away the largest red-flowered Clematis I've ever grown -- and so floriferous to boot! But the real surprise is in the bloom strength. Most reblooming Clematis take a rest in between shows, but 'Ruutel' blooms all summer long without a "down day" -- that's 4 months or more in most climates!

Just 5 to 6 feet high and 2 feet wide, 'Ruutel' is a good choice for containers as well as small-space gardens, the front of the border, or trellises and fences. Bred in Estonia, it's quite tolerant of bad conditions from poor soil to excessive heat and humidity. You will find it trouble-free and SO easy to grow!

'Ruutel' combines beautifully with Hardy Geranium, Daylily, and other summer-blooming perennials in the sunny to partly shaded garden. Try this vine today and see just how colorful and carefree Clematis can be!

Clematis is easy to grow in a rich, porous, alkaline soil with plenty of room for the roots to spread. Best performance is when the tops are in full sunlight and the roots are shaded, so apply a generous mulch or a shallow-rooted ground cover near the base of the vine. Very reliable performers once established, they take a season or two to get going. 'Ruutel' is a Group III Clematis for pruning purposes, which means that in early spring you should cut back the vine to about 18 inches from the ground. Zones 4-9. Please order promptly; we have very limited quantities of this item.
