Description / Actinidia September Sun™ Arctic Beauty™ Female Kiwi

Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit

Actinidia September Sun™ Arctic Beauty™ Female Kiwi is a compact deciduous vine that?s not only a fruitful addition to your garden but also serves an ornamental purpose with its vibrant, heart-shaped leaves. As an award-winning variety, September Sun is a superior female kiwi vine that blooms in slightly fragrant, greenish-white flowers in early summer. Come August, expect to harvest large, smooth-skinned fruits packed with sweet kiwi flavor. With a potential yield of 10 to 15 pounds, this vine is a truly fruitful addition to your garden.

September Sun is a variety of Actinidia kolomikta, also known as the arctic beauty kiwi or variegated kiwi vine. Cold hardy and vigorous, this vine can withstand temperatures as low as minus 40°F and can reach a mature height of 15 to 20 feet. It is also a fast grower, bearing fruit just 1 to 2 years after planting. Ideal for arbors, trellises, fences, screens, or walls, this vine adds a touch of beauty to any garden.

For fruitful results, ensure cross-pollination between a male and female plant. Pair the September Sun with a Pasha™ male Arctic beauty for pollination. One male plant can pollinate up to eight female kiwis.

For best results, grow your kiwi vine in a sunny to partly shady spot with average, medium moist, well-drained soil. The September Sun Arctic Beauty prefers a bit of shade but too much shade can diminish the vibrancy of its foliage. This plant is pest and disease resistant, making it an excellent choice for both novice and experienced gardeners.
