Description / Beacon® Formula Mixture Hybrid Impatiens Seeds
Days to Maturity: 49 to 63
Beacon® Formula Mixture Hybrid Impatiens Seeds contains Impatiens walleriana varieties, also known as busy lizzy, that are tender perennials, usually grown as annuals, offering spring through late summer interest. Showy white, violet, coral, orange, salmon, rose, and bright red blooms cover the plants non-stop all season.
The well-branched varieties in the Beacon® Formula Mixture Hybrid Impatiens have an upright, mounded, spreading habit. They are shown to best effect when massed in shady beds and borders, but they are also perfect for containers and hanging baskets. They fill in quickly to brighten dark, shady areas, such as around the base of trees.
A beloved garden staple, easily grown from seed, impatiens prefers partial to deep shade and humus rich, moist, well-drained soil. It is important to keep it well watered and protected from strong winds. Beacon® Formula Mixture Hybrid Impatiens varieties are highly resistant to impatiens downy mildew.
Start impatiens seeds indoors 8 to 10 weeks before the last frost date and transplant seedlings into the garden in spring when the threat of frost has passed.
If you plan to start your seeds indoors, be sure to check out our Bio Dome Seed Starter Kit. With the Bio Dome, you can control the temperature, light, and soil mix to ensure your seeds become strong for transplant.
