An outstanding garden performer, Maverick™ Appleblossom Hybrid Geranium, a zonal geranium, is typically grown as an annual offering spring to fall interest. Free flowering, the plants have large heads of blooms with delicately shaded soft pink petals with white edges. Borne in clusters atop long stalks, the lightly fragranced flowers attract butterflies to the garden and make excellent cuts for summer bouquets.

Well-branched and vigorous, Maverick™ Appleblossom Hybrid Geranium has a shrubby, upright, mounded habit of attractive rounded to kidney-shaped, medium-green leaves. Shown to best effect grouped or massed in beds, borders, containers, hanging baskets, and window boxes. It is often used as a filler for filler-thriller-spiller container gardens.

Maverick™ Appleblossom Hybrid Geranium prefers full sun to light shade in afternoon heat and average to organically rich, medium moisture, well-drained soils with a neutral to slightly alkaline pH. The plants are heat and humidity tolerant and deer and rabbit resistant. Plants are low maintenance, but pinching stems promotes bushy plants and deadheading spent flowers promotes additional flowering.

Start geranium seeds indoors and transplant seedlings to the garden after threat of frost has passed. Geranium seeds germinate best at 75 degrees and should take a few days to a few weeks. Consider using a heat mat or grow lights to keep seedlings at the optimum temperature. Once seedlings are ready for transplant, gradually expose them to outdoor conditions by placing them in a protected, partly shaded spot for a few hours every day over a week to 10 days and bring them in at night.
