Description / Oxalis 'Iron Cross'
Oxalis 'Iron Cross' is often known as Good Luck Plant and it will certainly bring luck to your landscape. It's a bulbous perennial that forms a lush mount of rich green leaves that are each composed of four heart shaped leaves, each with a dark purple center. The burgundy marking across the center of the leaves is reminiscent of a cross. During the day the leaves open out to receive sunlight but at night they retract and fold up like little umbrellas, adding even more interest to this unique plant. From early summer until frost, the handsome foliage is topped by plenty of trumpet shaped bright pink blooms. Oxalis is easy to grow and not invasive and it makes a colorful, interesting addition to rock gardens and offers a long season of interest when it is grown in containers. Add it to your landscape for a little bit of luck and a lot of fun!
