Description / Canna 'Cleopatra' Bulbs
Canna 'Cleopatra' is a show-stopping canna lily that adds vibrant energy and tropical allure to your garden. Reaching 28 to 32 inches tall, its broad paddle-shaped leaves come in shades of green, dark bronze, or a mix of both, creating a striking foliage display. Its crown of large, colorful flowers features a blend of yellow, red, or bothsometimes speckled for extra charm. No two plants are exactly alike, making each one a unique addition to your garden.
This heat-loving rhizomatous perennial thrives in Zones 7-10 and is well-suited for southern gardens. Its fast-growing, upright habit works beautifully in beds, borders, or patio containers. When planted in groups or masses, 'Cleopatra' creates a stunning visual effect, turning any garden into a tropical paradise.
Simple to care for, Canna 'Cleopatra' grows best in full sun to partial shade with rich, well-draining soil. Keep the soil consistently moist but ensure good drainage to prevent bulb rot. Regularly remove faded flowers by cutting back the flowering stem, and let the foliage naturally die back before trimming. Its deer-resistant qualities make it a reliable and worry-free choice.
Plant rhizomes in spring when the soil is warm, burying them 2 to 4 inches deep and spacing them 12 inches apart with the "eyes" (2-3) facing upward. Mulch to protect the bulbs during winter in Zones 8-11. In colder regions, plant bulbs in early summer and lift them in fall for storage in a cool, frost-free location until the next growing season.
