Description / Gladiolus Sunrise Blend Bulbs
Sunrise Blend combines three dazzling gladiolus varieties: Essential, Black Star, and Bra Val. Growing 38 to 60 inches tall, these striking flower spikes rise above fans of strappy green leaves, adding height and elegance to any summer garden. Their bold color combinationsatiny white, sunny yellow, and deep velvety redcreates vibrant displays in garden beds, borders, or rock gardens and makes sensational additions to bouquets and vases.
Sunrise Blend features Gladiolus spp. varieties, also known as gladiolus, glads, or sword lilies, that are tender perennials in Zones 7-10. For the best effect, plant bulbs in clusters or masses in cutting gardens, borders, or containers. In areas prone to strong winds, staking may be necessary to support their tall, dramatic stems.
These gladiolus are easy to grow, thriving in full sun to partial shade with fertile, well-draining soil. If your soil is sandy or heavy clay, improve it with organic materials like bark or peat moss for better water retention and structure. Fertilize sparingly after planting and again during summer to support lush growth and vibrant blooms. Water thoroughly during planting and consistently throughout the growing season to keep the roots hydrated. Add mulch to retain soil moisture and regulate temperature.
Plant bulbs in spring after frost danger has passed, spacing them 4 to 6 inches apart and planting them 4 to 6 inches deep. For continuous blooms, stagger plantings every two weeks. After the flowers fade, allow the foliage to grow until it browns or frost threatens. Lift, clean, and store the corms in a cool, dry place (40-50°F) for winter.
