Description / Gladiolus Exuberant Koi Blend Bulbs
Exuberant Koi Blend features two dazzling gladiolus varieties: Extravert and Koi. These vibrant summer blooms reach 24 to 48 inches tall, their graceful flower spikes rising above a fan of sword-like foliage. With ruffled, orchid-like petals in bold hues, they bring energy and elegance to garden beds and borders, along with butterflies and hummingbirds. Ideal for cutting, these gladiolus make sensational summer bouquets and dynamic floral arrangements.
Exuberant Koi Blend includes Gladiolus spp. varieties, also known as gladiolus, glads, or sword lilies, that are tender perennials in Zones 7-10. For maximum impact, plant them in groups or clusters in borders, beds, containers, or cutting gardens. These glads are also a great choice for rock gardens. Taller plants may need staking in windy areas for added support.
These gladiolus are low-maintenance and thrive in sunny to lightly shaded areas with nutrient-rich, well-draining soil. For sandy or clay-heavy soils, enrich with organic materials like bark or peat moss to improve drainage and moisture retention. Fertilize sparingly after planting and again in midsummer to encourage healthy growth and abundant blooms. Water deeply at planting and consistently throughout the growing season. Mulch to conserve soil moisture and regulate temperature.
Plant bulbs in spring once frost danger has passed, spacing them 4 to 6 inches apart and planting them 4 to 6 inches deep. For continuous blooms, stagger plantings every two weeks throughout the spring. After flowering, allow the foliage to grow until it browns or frost approaches. Lift, clean, and store the corms in a cool, dry location (40-50°F) for winter storage.
