Description / Lilium Asiatic Lily Mix Bulbs
The Lilium Asiatic Lily Mix is a stunning collection of some of the most beloved garden lilies, offering a breathtaking display of exotic colors and reliable blooms. Plant these bulbs in the fall, and by late spring to early summer, your garden will be adorned with large, star-like flowers that rise gracefully on sturdy, leaf-covered stems reaching heights of 26 to 38 inches. Each mix pack delivers a unique and beautiful blend of varieties and colors, ensuring that no two gardens are exactly alike.
Asiatic lilies are known for their reliable nature and extended blooming season, making them a favorite of gardeners. The upward-facing flowers have prominent, pollen-covered anthers that attract bees and butterflies, which add lively movement to your garden. These lilies also make exceptional cut flowers, adding elegance and drama to floral arrangements. When harvesting the blooms, leave at least two-thirds of the stem and foliage intact, this allows the bulbs to store energy for the following year's growth and flowering.
A species of Lilium asiatic, commonly known as Asiatic lilies, these bulbs are perennial powerhouses with upright growth habits. Given the right conditions they will naturalize, returning year after year to grace your garden beds and borders with their vibrant blooms. Asiatic lilies are versatile. Plant them in cutting gardens or patio pots and containers.
To plant your Asiatic lily bulbs, space them 6 to 8 inches apart and 6 to 8 inches deep. These lilies thrive in sunny spots where they can enjoy at least 6 to 8 hours of sunlight each day, but they prefer their roots to remain cool, so consider mulching to maintain soil temperature. They perform best in well-draining soils with a slightly acidic pH. With proper winter mulching, Asiatic lilies are hardy to Zone 3, ensuring they can withstand even harsh winter conditions.
Asiatic lilies are low-maintenance and rewarding, requiring just a bit of care to keep them thriving. Feed them with Espoma Organic® Bulb-tone® Bulb and Flower Food in the spring as growth begins, and be sure to allow the foliage to die back naturally before removing it. Not only are these lilies stunning, but they are also deer and rodent resistant, making them a practical choice for gardens with wildlife exposure.
Whether you're planting them for their spectacular garden presence or for their utility as cut flowers, the Lilium Asiatic Lily Mix will bring beauty to your garden year after year.
