Description / Ranunculus Double Picotee Buttercup Bulbs
Ranunculus Double Picotee buttercups grow up to 16 inches tall and bring a romantic touch to early summer gardens with their large, peony-like double blooms. Their delicate petals range from soft white to blushing pink, finished with charming picotee edges. Prolific and long-lasting, these blooms are perfect for enhancing gardens and creating fresh floral displays.
A Ranunculus asiaticus variety, also called Persian buttercups, Double Picotee thrives as a perennial in Zones 8-10. Gardeners in colder climates can grow them as annuals or lift and store the corms for the winter. Whether planted in garden beds, containers, or small pots, these buttercups shine brightest in groups or masses.
Double Picotee buttercups prefer full sun for optimal blooming but tolerate partial sun in medium moist, well-draining soil. Remove spent flowers to encourage more blooms and allow the foliage to naturally fade before cutting back. These deer-resistant plants are a low maintenance delight for any garden.
Plant Double Picotee buttercup corms in warm spring soil after frost danger has passed. Place the corms 3 inches deep and 4 inches apart, claws facing downward. To promote faster growth, soak the corms overnight in lukewarm water before planting. Water well after planting and fertilize to support robust growth and blooming.
