Description / 'Mr. Fokker' Windflower Bulbs
Plant 'Mr. Fokker' Windflower (Anemone) in fall (warm climates) or early spring after the last frost (cold climates), and in mid to late spring, the bulbs bloom in showy poppy-like flowers super saturated with dark purple and having a large dark eye. Borne singly atop long, sturdy stems, they make dramatic cut flowers and attract butterflies to the garden.
This rhizomatous perennial, also known as a windflower, has a clumping, mounded habit of finely divided, ferny, medium green foliage. Extremely easy to grow, 'Mr. Fokker' Windflower (Anemone) thrives in acid, alkaline, neutral, sandy, and loamy soils. Full sun is preferred but light shade is tolerated, especially in hot areas. It is deer and rabbit resistant.
Spring-flowering bulbs are hardy and require a "dormant" period of cold temperatures to stimulate their root development. Plant in fall before the first hard frost. Do not dig them up before winter.
*The small corms must be soaked for several hours before planting.
