Description / Carex EverColor® 'Everillo' Sedge
PP#21,002. Cultivar Name: 'Everillo'.
An auspicious mutation of the species, this wonderfully bright gold Sedge was discovered in Ireland by Pat Fitzgerald of Fitzgerald Nurseries. While most gold-toned plants require full sun for their best color, 'Everillo' is unique for its ability to thrive in the shade--it actually achieves its best golden color in part shade! It also prefers wet feet to dry feet, making it a lifesaver for those wet, shady spots in the garden where nothing else likes to grow.
Use 'Everillo' as a bright accent in mixed containers, as a naturalizing underplanting to add golden tones to the woodland garden, or as a gorgeous groundcover to prevent erosion in areas where storm water flows through. In mass plantings it will work to prevent erosion, and you will be rewarded with a spectacle every time the wind blows through the foliage, sending the golden blades bobbing and swaying as if to some jaunty tune.
This sedge is a lovely choice for naturalizing. Let it move in drifts throughout the shaded, moist parts of your garden and it will grow into breathtaking ribbons of golden color! Deer leave it alone, and it holds a beautiful color and form with no need to fertilize or prune! 1 Quart container. Zones 5 to 9.
