Description / Cora® XDR Red Glow Vinca Seeds
Cora® XDR Red Glow Vinca is a top-performing annual that brings bold, season-long color with unbeatable disease resistance. This variety features vibrant red blooms with a glowing, velvety finish that stands out beautifully in sunny beds, borders, and containers. The Cora® XDR series is bred for extra disease resistance (XDR)—specifically to combat Phytophthora, a common and often deadly disease in vinca—making it one of the most reliable choices for hot, humid climates.
Plants grow in a uniform, mounded habit, reaching 12 to 16 inches tall and spreading 12 to 20 inches wide, creating a full, lush look without the need for constant maintenance. The 2-inch blooms appear in abundance from mid spring through late summer, thriving in full sun and well-drained soil, even during intense summer heat.
Why grow Vinca Cora® XDR Red Glow? It's not only stunning but also incredibly low maintenance, drought-tolerant, and self-cleaning, meaning it requires no deadheading to keep blooming. It's ideal for landscaping, mass plantings, patio containers, and edging, especially in areas where other annuals struggle with disease or heat stress.
Direct sow vinca seed after the last frost and as soon as the soil is warm in spring or start seeds indoors 12 to 16 weeks before the last frost and transplant after all threat of frost has passed.
If you plan to start your seeds indoors, be sure to check out our Bio Dome Seed Starter Kit. With the Bio Dome, you can control the temperature, light, and soil mix to ensure your seeds become strong for transplant.
