Description / Corydalis 'Blue Heron'
Transform the spring shade garden with this amazing new introduction from noted plantsman Dan Hinkley! Abundant tubular sapphire-blue blooms, subtly fragrant, hang suspended above large, finely cut, elegant blue-gray foliage.
'Blue Heron' reaches just 8 to 10 inches high and 10 to 12 inches wide, and flowers in mid to late spring. It may go dormant in summer, but will return for autumn, often reblooming in cool, short-season climates. Upright, mounded, and non-spreading, it is a glittering jewel for the garden!
Unlike many Corydalis cultivars, 'Blue Heron' will not self-seed, so you don't have to worry about all those volunteers. It thrives best in a cool, shady garden spot with consistent levels of moisture. However, this slow-growing native of Sichuan, China, is quite at home in less than ideal conditions, and you will find it relatively low maintenance.
'Blue Heron' is a lovely addition to the shade. Discover its beauty for yourself this season, and enjoy it for many years to come! Zones 6-9.
