Description / Pycnanthemum Mountain Mint
Pycnanthemum Mountain Mint offers clusters of delicate white to pale pink flowers above attractive green foliage from early summer through midsummer. While the blooms provide subtle beauty, the strongly aromatic foliage is equally appealing, releasing a refreshing spearmint fragrance when touched or crushed. Broad toothed leaves and abundant flowers create a naturalistic look that fits beautifully into pollinator gardens and native plantings.
Few perennials match Mountain Mint for pollinator value. Bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds flock to the flowers throughout the blooming season, making it one of the most active plants in the garden. The fragrant leaves and flowers can also be harvested for tea. Named the 2025 Perennial Plant of the Year® by the Perennial Plant Association, this native perennial combines ornamental appeal, wildlife value, and practical garden use.
Hardy in Zones 4 to 8, Mountain Mint grows in full sun to part shade and prefers moist, well drained soils.
