  • Description / Symphoricarpos Proud Berry® Pearl Snowberry

Proud Berry® Pearl Snowberry creates an unforgettable display of bright white berries that blanket the branches from late summer through fall. The abundant fruit remains attractive for weeks, especially during dry weather, providing long lasting ornamental appeal when many garden plants begin to fade. Pale blue green foliage and a compact low growing habit add texture and structure throughout the season, while the berry covered branches bring exceptional interest to borders, foundations, and mixed plantings.

Selected for its heavy fruit production and compact size, Proud Berry® Pearl offers all the beauty of snowberry in a more manageable garden form. This self pollinating North American native produces berries without requiring another variety nearby and blooms on new wood for dependable annual performance. The white berries create outstanding seasonal interest and can be harvested for decorative branch arrangements. Pollinators visit the flowers during summer, while birds may enjoy the berries after frost.

Hardy in Zones 3 to 7, Proud Berry® Pearl thrives in part sun to sun and adapts to average, moist, well drained soils, including poor and urban sites. Plants mature to approximately 24 to 36 inches tall and 24 inches wide with a compact habit. Cut plants back to about 12 inches in early spring and remove the oldest stems every few years to encourage vigorous growth and abundant fruit production.
