Description / Hydrangea Gatsby Moon® Oakleaf Hydrangea
Visions of grandeur will fill your mind when you look up at Gatsby Moon® Oakleaf Hydrangea. Rising up to 10 feet high, this opulent Hydrangea makes a spectacle of itself with immense leaves and huge, plush blooms.
Gatsby Moon® Oakleaf Hydrangea is a Proven Winners® ColorChoice® plant chosen for its exceptional beauty and performance. To be selected for this group, it was thoroughly tested in trial gardens all around the world, and found to have superb health and vigor as well as spectacular blooms.
A remarkable garden specimen, Gatsby Moon® Oakleaf Hydrangea sets massive foliage and blooms that are both worthy of inspection. The huge leaves make this shrub stand out all year long, especially when they turn a deep red in the fall. The blooms set ample cones of double white florets, creating a rich and varied texture. These blooms open a vibrant white and slowly take on lime tinges as they mature. And each bloom has plenty of time to mature, as Gatsby Moon® blooms for months on end, keeping the flowers coming all summer long. Wonderfully weather resistant, nothing will stop these blooms from putting on their show.
Gatsby Moon® is adaptable, working well with most soils, as long as it is well-drained and gets some sun. In the south it prefers some shade, and in the north it likes full sun and some shelter from the chilliest winds. Gatsby Moon® blooms on old growth, so it is recommended that they be trimmed after they are finished flowering in the late summer. Fertilize in early spring with a Tree and Shrub slow-release fertilizer. This vigorous beauty will reward you with a summer's worth of huge, plush blooms.
