Description / Prunus Stay Classy™ Sand Cherry
A Proven Winners® ColorChoice® Flowering Shrubs variety, Prunus Stay Classy™ is a compact deciduous shrub grown for its colorful foliage and pretty white flowers. Although this shrub blooms in spring, and the flowers make nice cuts for floral arrangements, it's the purple foliage, which holds its color all season, that is the star of this show. And at about half the size of conventional types, it is highly versatile in the landscape.
Prunus x cisterna, commonly called sand cherry or purple leaf sand cherry, Stay Classy has an upright, mounding habit. It's an excellent specimen or container plant but is shown to best effect massed or grouped in mixed beds, borders, and foundation plantings.
Easy to grow and extremely cold hardyto Zone 2sand cherry grows best in sunny to partly sunny locations with rich, moist, well-draining soils having an alkaline pH but grows well in all soils, including clay. Stay Classy is drought tolerant and disease resistant.
