Description / Helleborus HGC® Leona
Helleborus HGC® Leona is an herbaceous evergreen perennial offering winter to spring interest. Early blooming, Leona's wealth of large, brilliantly colored dark red flowers augur spring beautifully. Borne on long, sturdy stems, the flowers are upward facing, unusual for a hellebore.
Helleborus HGC® Leona has a bushy, clump-forming habit of lobed, glossy, deep green leaves. It is perfect for containers, woodland gardens, and shady borders.
Cold hardy and low maintenance, hellebores prefer dappled to full shade and organically rich, moist, well-drained soil. The plant is drought tolerant once established, but mulching helps retain moisture in summer.
