Description / Stachys 'Pink Cotton Candy'
Pink Cotton Candy introduces an entirely new level of performance to the Stachys family. The most free-flowering Betony yet, this Chicago Botanic Gardens discovery sets masses of two-tone pink blooms atop tall, graceful stems held well above the fresh green foliage. If you are familiar with the old favorite 'Hummelo,' prepare to be wowed at the improvements made by this Richard Hawke introduction!
Pink Cotton Candy flowers from early through midsummer, very heavily and nonstop for about 8 weeks. In some climates it even reblooms in autumn; in all it tolerates drought, attracts bees, and is left alone by deer and rabbits. Reaching 2 feet tall and not quite as wide, it's compact enough to fit nicely into the border, along the driveway, and as part of accent plantings, but wherever it is placed, it has a huge impact.
Pink Cotton Candy was selected for its very heavy flowering, its deep green foliage, and its tidy growth habit. A lovely shrub, it represents a huge improvement in Betony breeding.
Not a plant for hot or humid climates, it thrives even in heavy packed soil, blooming continuously. In hot climates or areas with very warm summers, give it a bit of shade for best flowering. Find a place of glory for this improved selection of a vintage garden classic! Zones 4-8.
